live from the cbs bay area studios. this is kpix 5 news. they have been on the run, but now these two people have been questioned in the death of a three-year-old girl in napa. good evening i'm brian hackney.

>> and i'm ann notarangelo. kpix doug on the investigation that includes the girl's mother. >> reporter: and that's right this has happened in the close nit building of apartment dwellers. they knew the mother and the boyfriend and the child. and yesterday someone saw the mother and the boyfriend leave with luggage and not the child and they called police. >> napa police officers checked the apartment and located the three-year-old deceased in her bed. no parent or guardian was present at the residence. investigators from the napa please took over from the investigation. during the initial stages, the investigators noticed what appeared to be blunt force trama injuries on the victim. followup also indicated the victim appeared to have been sexually assaulted.

>> reporter: police arresting the child's mother sara krueger, 23-year-old and her boyfriend scat warner 26. this recent cell phone photo showing the victim on the right at play with an unidentified boy who lived in the same apartment complex. having an opinion of the man who came to live with the man who lived with her child's mother. >> obvious drug use. she went downhill when he was there. you never saw her playing outside anymore. the mook took real good care of her little girl before him. really into her child. >> reporter: how are you personally taking this? >> it's upsetting. i didn't sleep at all last night. thedefinitionue is a quiet apartment complex. this is a little girl i've seen grow. you know a little babe. very difficult. >> reporter: police say there have been calls to the apartment in the past for aled

drug use and alleged domestic violence. >> don, any discussion on out police were able to track down the couple? >> reporter: yes, apparently it was an anoun mouse tape from someone who saw the couple in the restaurant. close to the bart station. eventually bart police at that station picked them up. well, a man pulled over for a minor traffic violation in belmont now faces a slew of other charges. overses -- officers say they found stolen property in pedro man dez's car. mendoza was arrested without incident on charges of possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana while driving, and driving without a license. well, it was brief. but it was better than nothing, a little robust system moved from north to south today. and still in the south that you can see the few showers that are left. still, it left behind from around you can see some still down can there on the

we will have to raise prices. >> reporter: working on a ranch where he raises rabbits, pork and lams. they are not as dairy produces at the moment accident still his products are dangerously low. >> we are going to have a serious problem coming up as the season progresses and as we wet into the summertime. >> reporter: it doesn't just mean problems for organic farmers but the organic industry as a hole. searching for farmers to fill about one dozen of his booths. >> it's really hard for the farmers right now. it's terrible actually because a lot of the farmers can't even make it out to the markets and that's where they make their money. >> reporter: recertified oher gappic farmers are worried about the drought too. the trade association looking into financial help for farmers fallen on hard times. at this point best help can only come from above. and it might even be too late

waterfront. there's a new delay in the the golden state warriors plan to build an aretha on the san francisco water front. the team sow s now acing the arena definitely will not open in 2017 as envisioned. costs have now doubled for the site. the team has changed the design thee times trying to come up with one that will be approved by the city of potentially voters. >> doing exactly what we said we would do which is embrace all of the public input and regulatory input. and the schedule just takes longer to complete. so we're going to open in 2018. >> but tomorrow arena opponents

are expected to turn in more than 15,000 signatures for a measure that would require the warriors and any other developer to win voter approval for height limits along the water front. thousands braved the chilly soggy weather this morning during the 31st annual san francisco half marathon. the run began at 8:00 a.m. and ended at golden gate park. also held in the park. runner's world has ranked this particular rice one of the most scenic in the country. i don't know if i would call today scenic by certainly welcome. some spots.5 an inch of rain. numbers only nudged about 50 degrees in the warmest to the spots in the bay area. right now 46 at concord p 48 at oakland. san jose has 51. santa rosa 43 degrees. drop to near freezing by the early morning hours.

the week begins dry and cool. and rain chance again coming in by thursday. and maybe next sunday we chalice. tomorrow afternoon numbers in the mid-50s be increasing sunshine. that compared favorably with what is going on in the northern rockies. just 11 degrees up in montana. tomorrow heading out partly sunny skies and a temperature of 56 degrees and los angeles 63. and chicago partly cloudy skies. a good snow in new york tomorrow. 48 degrees. overnight lows tonight. 32 at nap family members. same for fair field. and because the skies is going to be clearing the numbers will get down there but they will recovery to about 8 degrees warmer than they were tonight. looking at 55 degrees at palo alto. san jose 56 degrees tomorrow. mid-50s for the east bay.
